Our kids did their first field competition on Saturday. They got 4th place in their class, which really upset everyone. They're used to getting first. BUT this year we're in a higher competition circuit. The judges were complimentary, but basically told us we had a long way to go.
Our show's title is "The Message." It's supposed to be the gospel message spreading around the world through Asia, Europe, and then to the Americas. The first piece is Bannock, representing Asia, the second a combination of Danny Boy and Loch Lamond, representing Europe, and ending with Brazil a samba piece representing the Americas. We think this was a little too subtle for the judges.
Beautiful day. Not bad concession stand food. Had a great time.

4th out of how many?
Keri - Well, um, there were four bands in their class so that would make them last. :-( There were 12 bands overall but I don't know where we ranked against the entire group.
Papa - There are several competitions in the season. We hope to have a better placing later. Hopefully, with a little more experience we'll do better.
